She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duke University in 1974 and is the director of an extensive private psychotherapy practice. Over its forty-two years of operation, Dr. Webbink has assisted couples, groups, families, and individuals on their paths to healing and self-discovery.
In 1986, she published her first book, The Power of the Eyes, with Springer Publishing Company. A comprehensive, scholarly treatise on visual communication, it was adopted as a monthly selection by the Behavioral Science Book Club. She has often been featured on radio, including Voice of America in three languages.
She has taught workshops and seminars throughout the U.S. and across the globe, taking her to Canada, China, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Denmark, England, France, Spain, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, and Norway.
Dr. Patricia Webbink has a beautiful office situated in an idyllic, wooded setting next to a stream t in Bethesda, Maryland. She also is the director of a large private practice with offices throughout D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Her goal is to help clients develop new and improved understandings of themselves and their relationships. Her therapy approach ranges from brief and crisis-oriented to in-depth and long-term treatment. Dr. Webbink treats anxiety and depression, as well as relationship and intimacy issues. She is an experienced practitioner of insight-oriented psychotherapy, spiritual counseling, guided imagery through music, and also conducts psychological testing for all ages, as needed. She helps people manage conflict, grief, ADHD and works with Adult Children of Alcoholics and gifted children.Other specialties include women's issues, weight loss, and smoking cessation She is fluent in Spanish and French, and she has a working knowledge of German. She often does work with Japanese clients, with the aid of a translator.
